Claudio Rubio is a Chilean saxophonist, composer, arranger, and educator, widely recognized as one of the most distinctive and consistent voices in contemporary Chilean jazz. He graduated Summa Cum Laude from the prestigious Jazz Studies Program at William Paterson University, where he studied with internationally acclaimed artists and educators including Rich Perry, Jim McNeely, Dave Liebman, among others.
Throughout his career, Rubio has maintained an active presence both as a bandleader and collaborator, participating in some of the most significant projects within the Chilean jazz scene. He has performed and recorded with leading musicians and ensembles such as Cristián Gálvez, Camila Meza, Nicolás Vera, Francesca Ancarola, Ensamble Quintessence, and Antonio Monasterio Ensamble. These collaborations have taken him to international stages in Japan, Colombia, Canada, England, Spain, Denmark, and Switzerland.
As a leader, Rubio has released four albums: Tristano! (2011), Hijo (2017), Música Para Ascensores (2019), and Ella Lleva El Fuego (2025). These recordings reflect an artistic vision that seamlessly integrates jazz tradition, contemporary composition, and improvisation. His album Hijo received a nomination for the Pulsar Awards, while Ella Lleva El Fuego won the Pulsar Award for Best Jazz Album, further establishing him as one of the most compelling creative voices in Chilean jazz today.
