Latin-Grammy nominated, recipient of the 2024 Jazz Gallery Commission Residency and winner of the 2023 Herb Alpert ASCAP Jazz Composer Competition and of the 2018 North American Saxophone Alliance Jazz Competition, Nicola Caminiti is a New York based Italian Saxophonist, Composer, and Arranger.
Praised as “one to watch” by JazzWise UK, Nicola is considered one of the leading musical figures among his generation for his intensely creative modern concepts based on interplay and rhythmic mastery, still embracing a sense of musical tradition.
He has performed in various international jazz festivals and clubs such as Blue Note, Birdland, The Jazz Gallery, Dizzy’s Club Coca-Cola at Lincoln Center, Black Cat in San Francisco, Bunkamura Orchard Hall in Shibuya (Tokyo), Japan, Club Evans in South Korea, as well as in Italy, Spain, Greece, Austria, Malta, Belgium, Germany etc.
He shared the stage and/or recorded with worldly famed artists such as Pedrito Martinez (Acertijos - 2021 Latin Grammy Nominated in 2021), Knower (Louis Cole & Genevieve Artadi), Arturo O’Farrill & AfroLatin Jazz Orchestra, Makoto Ozone, Dayna Stephens, Rotem Sivan, Chris Tordini, Harish Raghavan, Charles Altura, Gilad Hekselman, Shai Maestro and many others.
His debut album “Vivid Tales of a Blurry Self-Portrait”, which features Lex Korten, Ben Tiberio and Miguel Russell, has been chosen as Editor’s pick for the month of June on Downbeat (4* review) as well as featured on JazzWise in England, NPR, Culture Jazz in France and Jazz Weekly just to name a few.
Caminiti is a Borgani Saxophones and D’Addario Woodwinds artist and he partners with TT Mouthpieces and NS Ligatures.
