Mark Buselli is Director of Jazz Studies at Ball State University and Co- Director of the Buselli/Wallarab Jazz Orchestra (BWJO). He has ten recordings out as a leader on the Owlstudios and OA2 record labels. He has performed with many artists and has played for four U.S. presidents. He was inducted into the Indianapolis Jazz Hall of Fame in 2017. The BWJO’s release of Basically Baker was voted a top 100 CD release of the decade (2000-2010) by DownBeat magazine. His recording An Old Soul was a top 10 release of 2009 in JAZZIZ magazine. The BWJO was recognized in a 2012 Jazz Times Critics poll as being one of the five finalists for Large Jazz Ensemble of the year for 2012.
Chad McCullough is an acclaimed Chicago-based trumpeter, composer, and educator known for his introspective and melodic style. Praised by Downbeat Magazine for his "stunning, chilled lyricism," he is the co-owner of Calligram Records and a jazz faculty member at DePaul University. His 2024 album, In These Hills, Beyond, was hailed by All About Jazz as the "best playing of his career." A member of the international group Atlantic Road Trip, he has collaborated with artists like Maria Schneider and Miguel Zenón. In 2025, McCullough was named a "Rising Star Trumpeter of the Year" by the Downbeat Magazine Critic’s Poll.
Scott Belck is a versatile and accomplished trumpeter, educator, and author known for his work across a wide range of musical genres. As the Director of Jazz Studies at the University of Cincinnati's College-Conservatory of Music (CCM), he is a respected figure in music education. His performance credits are extensive, including lead trumpet roles with the Glenn Miller Orchestra, collaborations with artists like Christian McBride, Aretha Franklin, and Linda Ronstadt, and a touring stint as lead trumpet for Bootsy Collins' Funk Unity Band. A founding member of the Tromba Mundi contemporary trumpet ensemble, Belck also has a strong background in classical music, having served as principal or lead trumpet with several major symphony orchestras.
Joey Tartell is Professor of Trumpet and Director of Undergraduate Studies at Indiana University’s Jacobs School of Music. Before joining the faculty of IU, he played lead trumpet for Maynard Ferguson, the Smithsonian Jazz Masterworks Orchestra, the U.S. Army Field Band’s Jazz Ambassadors, the Woody Herman Orchestra, and the Glenn Miller Orchestra. As a soloist and clinician, he has been featured at both the National Trumpet Competition and the International Trumpet Guild conference.
