Weedie Braimah & the Hands of Time present an electrifying performance that fuses West African folkloric rhythm with jazz, funk, soul, and global grooves. Led by the Grammy-nominated djembefola and composer, this powerful ensemble delivers a high-energy, immersive experience—honoring tradition while boldly pushing sound into the future.
This eclectic ensemble of highly regarded internationally acclaimed musicians was founded in 2016 by Grammy Nominated Band Leader and Composer, Weedie Braimah. Braimah, a phenomenally talented and highly sought-after Djembefola whose vision is to build a reverence for folkloric West African music in hopes of it evolving and being placed in the world musical arenas of jazz, funk, fusion, world music, and hip hop, is a new face of African percussion both nationally and internationally. He has been able to connect his world with the likes of Youssou N’Dour, Chief Xian aTunde Adjuah, Pedrito Martinez, Trombone Shorty, Bokante, Tank and the Bangas, Cecile Salvant, and Baaba Maal to name a few.
This astounding folkloric orchestra mounts the Djembe as the frontage presenting music of the diaspora. Weedie Braimah’s self-titled debut album, was listed in Time Magazine as one of the top 10 albums of 2021 also earning a Grammy Nomination for Best Jazz Soloist for Sackodougou with Chief Xian aTunde Adjuah.
