As part of Hispanic Heritage Jazz Month at Blues Alley, and its Argentine spotlight, Valeria presents a special performance celebrating the richness of Argentine and Latin American roots alongside her American influences. For this special performance, she will perform selections from her award-winning album Raíces | Roots (ANTIDOTE SOUNDS), featuring original songs in Spanish alongside beloved classics from Cuba and Argentina. The program will also include music from her forthcoming World & American Roots project, On a Wing, featuring primarily English-language songs and expanding her sound into a rich blend of folk, roots, and global influences. The evening promises a vivid tapestry of storytelling, heritage, and emotional depth—a journey through her roots and beyond. She is joined by her full band—Kevin Dudley (lead Spanish guitar), Eugenio Ibarz (double bass), Jason Walker (percussion), and Grey Jacks (piano and harmonies)—with a special appearance by Argentine bandoneón virtuoso Emmanuel Trifilio, highlighting the nostalgic sound of Buenos Aires, and weaving the evocative spirit of tango into her repertoire.
2026 Double Wammie Winner for Best World Artist & Album, guitarist, vocalist, and composer Valeria Stewart (née Rodriguez-Rozic) delivers a captivating multilingual performance rooted in World, Latin, jazz, and Americana traditions. Born in Buenos Aires and raised in the Washington, D.C. area, she brings a distinctive bicultural sensibility to her music.
