"Come celebrate the Stephen Philip Harvey Jazz Orchestra’s debut release, Smash! This album is a collection of original pieces dedicated to the superheroes of comic books, television, and movies. Harvey has assembled a supergroup of musical avengers from the DC and Baltimore area. While they aren’t fighting crime or defeating villains, they’re crafting a thrilling soundtrack for such daring escapades.
Passionate about both jazz and pop culture, composer Stephen Philip Harvey never shies away from blending both into his writing. In Smash!, Harvey uses contemporary big band writing styles and genre-blending idioms to bring comic book inspired pieces to life. These compositions combine elements of big band jazz, fusion, funk, rock, and cinematic score to bring classic characters and scenes off the page. This collection of music takes you from your seats and puts you right in the battle of hero vs. villain. Whether you want to fly through the skies, hatch a nefarious plot, or just smash something, the Stephen Philip Harvey Jazz Orchestra has a piece for you. Come join in on the action!"
