Kofi B

From Akron to accolades, Kofi B., the 25-year-old Ohio-born, 2x Emmy Nominated pianist, producer, actor, and media personality, has captivated the world with his innovative approach to music, public speaking, and storytelling. His creative endeavors have resonated globally on social media, drawing the attention of millions. In 2018, Kofi earned a Silver medal in the NAACP ACT-SO National Competition, joining ranks with luminaries like actor Anthony Anderson and singers Lauryn Hill, Jennifer Hudson, and Alicia Keys.

While music remains at the core of his artistic expression, Kofi’s achievements reach far beyond the stage. In 2021, he founded BlaBoak (Blah-boque) Ventures, his media production company, which garnered two Emmy® Nominations by 2022 for exceptional interviews and musical content. His journey includes collaborations with icons such as the Ohio Players, Joe Little of the Rude Boys, and J Moss, cementing his status within the industry.

In 2022, Kofi won the prestigious Apollo Theater’s “Amateur Night At The Apollo” Competition, securing the title of official winner along with a $20,000 Grand Prize. Not content with just winning, Kofi made history as the first-ever winner to step into the coveted role of host, joining the ranks of illustrious hosts such as Steve Harvey, Sinbad, Whoopi Goldberg, and Mo'Nique. His dynamic performances thrilled audiences, solidifying his place as a young Apollo legend in the making.

Adding to his repertoire, Kofi recently made his acting debut in the blockbuster film, “Whitney Houston: I Wanna Dance With Somebody,” showcasing his piano skills as the late singer’s pianist and contributing to the film's music alongside Houston’s music director, Rickey Minor.

Kofi’s career continues to break new ground as he expands his portfolio as a media personality. In 2024, he served as the official Ambassador of Engagement for the 47th Kennedy Center Honors, where he not only excelled in this high-profile role but also performed double-duty in sharing in the celebration. Kofi also received an honorary medal as a contributor to the Apollo Theater's rich history—the first institution ever to receive a Kennedy Center Honor.

Kofi’s journey includes co-billing and opening for icons like Charlie Wilson, Will Downing, Roy Ayers, Marsha Ambrosius, and Musiq Soulchild. His multifaceted career also led to a feature on the Tamron Hall Show, further solidifying his impact.

As Kofi continues to inspire and redefine artistic brilliance, the journey promises more chapters of success from “The Other Kid From Akron.”
