In 2020, veteran songwriters John Forster, Hillary Rollins, and Tom Toce needed a project to get them through lockdown. A few weeks’ amusement while the whole “corona virus thing” blew over. Five and a half years later, their “little-project-that-could” has grown into a unique series that is part musical comedy, part podcast, and all party!
Inspired by Boccaccio’s Decameron – a classic 14th century collection of short stories shared among a group of friends escaping the black plague in a villa in Tuscany -- The New Decameron: Songwriters in Lockdown is a 21st century collection of original story songs shared among a group of songwriters escaping the modern plague in a villa in cyberspace. But that’s where the highbrow connection ends and the do-it-yourself fun begins.
