$25 Recommended Donation to Blues Alley Jazz Society at bluesalley.org
Washington, D.C., is a guitar town. Sitting at the crossroads of North and South, home to the Federal government and numerous embassies, the region was ideally suited to absorb the influences of a range of cultures brought here by immigrants from across the East Coast and around the world. Consider some of the players who settled here: Elizabeth Cotton, Sophocles Papas, Bill Harris, Charlie Byrd, Roy Clark, Roy Buchanan, Mike Stern and Danny Gatton, to name just a few. Tom Cole - host of WPFW-FM's Sunday morning program, G-Strings - traces the history of the instrument in D.C from before the First World War to the present.
All financial proceeds will be donated to our non-profit Blues Alley Jazz Society
