Jason Torres, bass

The Marco Hague Trio presents an energetic performance featuring compositions by Marco Hague, John Coltrane, Thelonious Monk, John Lee, Joe Henderson, and Lage Lund.

Marco Hague is a guitarist based in the Baltimore area. He is grateful to have lived most of his life here, giving him the opportunity to experience the rich musical culture in Baltimore. Hague studies music at Towson University and values the musical mentorship of his instructors.

Hague’s initiative is to showcase the unique qualities of each ensemble he works with, creating a space for each player to shine while prioritizing the group’s collective sound. He cultivates an openness to on-the-spot arranging to allow the music to happen, rather than forcing things. He prioritizes how a piece is played over what piece he chooses to play. Hague finds great joy and inspiration in composing original music. He is currently investigating how poetry, prose and conversational speech can serve as starting points for musical melody.

Marco Hague’s Groups and Notable Productions:
