Warp Duo is the newly formed collaborative project between sound artists Scott Li and Levi Lu which focuses on electroacoustic improvisation utilizing acoustic instruments such as the voice and violin in combination with live electronic systems, including live processing in Max/MSP, digital feedback, modular synthesis modules, and many other systems. Wails, visceral violin scratching, and broken bow hairs accompany ethereal, reverberant soundscapes and melodies, all guided, above all, by pure feeling.

Scott Li is a Baltimore-based violinist, composer, performer, recording engineer, and sound artist blending the tonal Romantic chamber music tradition with experimental/ambient electronic music.

Since 2020, Li has worked extensively with fellow composer and filmmaker Lukas Mackinney as a multifaceted sound artist/technician scoring, mixing, and designing sound for film. Li is an accomplished filmmaker, with a number of short films published on YouTube. Further film collaborations have included the score for Mackinney’s 2020 capstone project “Polaroids from the Death of America” and various short films with NYC-based writer, designer and visual artist Claire Zhang.

Li’s 25-minute electroacoustic chamber work "memoriae" was the 1st-place recipient of 2019 Prix D'Ete competition at the Peabody Institute for electroacoustic chamber works achieving novel forms of musical expression. https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCdk5B16GwpnKGW1ML1pre7g

Qiujiang Levi Lu is a Baltimore-based composer, free-improviser, and sound artist whose works explore the spatiality of electroacoustic sound, audio-visual interactivity between performer and audience, and phenomenology of sound. Lu’s compositions range from purely acoustic to experimental electronic and incorporate his love of listening to everyday sounds and using them in creative ways.

As an innovative composer, Lu is interested in combining sensors and programming languages with acoustic instruments to flourish his creativity. Lu has written a broad range of compositions, including solo acoustic, chamber orchestral, electroacoustic, and fixed media works. https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCCbeIQesvQAK4xyb0qAnukA
