In an encapsulated paragraph the African “Griot” or “Jali” is the aural historian of culture, music, and history within the realm of any particular region or society inside the continent of Africa. This knowledge is handed down to their progeny for the maintenance of their cultural heritage, and for later dissemination to future generations.

The multifarious influence of African music throughout the diaspora is well documented. No greater example of this ubiquitous influence can be found within the Jazz aesthetic worldwide. The Trio Griot will present an ebullient and numinous musical dialogue in elucidation of the African influence inside the parameter of African-American’s greatest gift to the world: Jazz
