Band Cellophane Kiss
Singer Brandie Zucker
Singer Ritz & Her Band
Poet Justin Graves

Re-formed in 2024, Cellophane Kiss is a Bushwick-based alternative band consisting of Mackenzie Caron on vocals, keys, and guitar, Alec Logeman on drums, Eric Martin on bass, and Toby Youngman on lead guitar. Cellophane Kiss pull from diverse artists ranging from My Chemical Romance, Suede, David Bowie, Damon Albarn, and Scott Walker to create music that summons the decayed and haunted landscapes of New England. Their sound swings from snarling punk riffs to strained and understated balladry.

Brandie Zucker is a singer/songwriter with a disco pop style based in New York. Her musical influences include Michael Jackson, Madonna, ABBA, Beach House, and FKATWIGS. Brandie believes that music is the fastest way to heal the world and she’s excited to play a role in this evolution through the power of dance, sound, love, and connection. It is her mission to help people around the world who have had similar experiences as her in this challenging yet beautiful journey of life.

Born and raised in New Jersey, Ritz has been making music for eight years—starting out just to impress a middle school crush (it did not work but she found something better). Now, she is all about creating pop/rock tunes that hit hard and make you want to move, while capturing the emotional depth of experiences. For the last four years, she has been playing such noted venues as The Delancey, Bowery Electric, Berlin Under A, Brooklyn Music Kitchen, Heaven Can Wait. Her band keeps things fresh by switching instruments between songs—creating a show that is anything but average.

Justin Graves is an African American and Puerto Rican poet, novelist, and musician born and raised in New York City. His poetry is a reflection of his urban upbringing in Bushwick, a historic neighborhood in the city’s borough of Brooklyn. His pieces range from philosophical meditations inspired by the Roman Emperor Marcus Aurelius to free-verse on mental illness and politics inspired by fellow NYC native, James Baldwin. His debut poetry collection, Poetic Meditations, is available on Amazon.

Hosted by former journalist Mike Geffner who founded InspiredWordNYC in March 2009.
