Langston Hughes II returns to Blues Alley to bring his annual holiday tradition back to Washington, D.C., for two evenings of soulful, swinging jazz.

A Juilliard graduate, saxophonist, composer, and educator, Hughes has quickly emerged as one of the leading young voices in jazz today. His music draws deeply from the blues, gospel, and the straight-ahead jazz tradition, reflecting both his musical roots and his commitment to carrying the music forward. He has performed alongside artists including Wynton Marsalis, Cyrus Chestnut, Ulysses Owens Jr., Jazzmeia Horn, and Rufus Reid, earning recognition for his expressive sound, dynamic improvisation, and compelling stage presence.

For Not So Silent Night, Hughes presents a heartfelt holiday celebration featuring fresh arrangements of seasonal favorites, timeless jazz standards, and original compositions, all brought to life by an all-star ensemble. Blending warmth, joy, and swinging energy, the concert captures the spirit of the season while honoring the rich traditions of jazz.
