Bloomington Jazz Orchestra

In their first appearance at the Jazz Kitchen, the Bloomington Jazz Orchestra (BJO) pays tribute to Indiana composers and arrangers with a set including the music of David Baker, Hoagy Carmichael, Al Cobine, Freddie Hubbard, Wes Montgomery, and Brent Wallarab. BJO, directed by Lissa Fleming May, is a Bloomington-based big band made up of some of the most talented jazz musicians in the area. The repertoire ranges from classic swing tunes and vocal standards to contemporary big band charts. Drawing from the libraries of Count Basie, Duke Ellington, Stan Kenton, Woody Herman, Tom Kubis, Gordon Goodwin, and others, there is something for everyone’s’ listening pleasure!
