Acclaimed Danish jazz guitarist Jacob Artved and his NYC based quartet will be performing their favorite music from the jazz songbook and mix it up with some of their original music. You can expect a groovy and intimate musical experience with inspiration from jazz greats such as Ahmad Jamal, Wayne Shorter, Bud Powell with a touch of Brazil, and of course Denmark.
Jacob has worked and recorded with internationally acclaimed jazz stars such as Billy Hart, Louis Hayes, David Wong, Victor Lewis and Billy Drummond, and he is an active composer and arranger. His most recent recordings are “Something For Someone” starring Billy Hart, David Wong and Danish saxophonist Niels Vincentz that includes Jacob’s and Niels’ original music. “Metamorphosis” is a collaboration with his father Max Artved (oboe) with arrangements by Jacob that takes music from composers like Prokofiev, Ravel & Tchaikovsky, re-imagining these classic’s through the lens of his own musical perspective. Jacob has also recorded with legendary drummer Louis Hayes in Copenhagen, a record called “Live at Jazzhus Montmartre”.
Jacob (1998) grew up in Copenhagen in a musical family and has always been surrounded by music. He got his first professional shows from the tender age of 14 and a couple of years later he was accepted as one of the youngest ever at the Rhythmic Conservatory in Copenhagen. He dropped out soon after and has since then worked as a full time musician. Jacob has now been living in New York City for the past 2 years playing around the city and expanding his musical horizon.
