Born in Chicago, Illinois, and raised in Rockford, Kurt Elling is an American jazz singer and songwriter who became interested in music through his father, who was Kapellmeister at a Lutheran church. He sang in choirs and played musical instruments.
Danilo Pérez is a Panamanian pianist, composer, educator, and a social activist. His music is a blend of Panamanian roots with elements of Latin American folk music, jazz, European impressionism, African, and other musical heritages that promote music as a multi-dimensional bridge between people. Danilo was the pianist with Dizzy Gillespie's United Nation Orchestra and has been a long-standing member of Wayne Shorter's Quartet, in addition to leading his own Trio in performances and recordings for more than two decades.
