DC singer and songwriter, Rene Edwards was exposed to straight-ahead jazz while
participating in a vocal workshop facilitated by jazz educators the late jazz vocalist
Ronnie Wells and her husband the late pianist Ron Elliston. Between 1994 and 2007,
Edwards performed at the East Coast Jazz Festival. She also, performed at various
venues around Washington D.C. with some of the best local jazz instrumentalists and
other emerging vocalists thanks to her association with Ronnie Wells. In the year 2000,
Edwards landed her first professional gig and began studying voice privately with New
York based jazz vocalist and educator Miles Griffith. In 2017, Edwards attended the
Contemporary Commercial Music Vocal Pedagogy Institute at Shenandoah University.
To date, Edwards has been collaborating with composer, producer and pianist Aaron
Rhines writing material and recording original music and covers for her debut album
“Memories of Green” which is still in production.
