Hometown Favorites, The VI-Kings are the ‘60’s Soundtrack of your life, return for their seventh performance at Bethesda Blues & Jazz. The VI-Kings will bring to life the great ‘60’s hits of The British Invasion/American Pop era. Beatles Stones, Kinks, Credence, Dylan, Byrds, Yardbirds and on and on. There’s a reason that this wonderful music has endured through the decades. It is joyous, fresh and as relevant today as it was the day it was released.
The VI-Kings are the breeze that blew through Liverpool, Surrey and Richmond, out of the Haight, down Sunset Boulevard, up the Mississippi and along South Michigan Avenue. It roared down Beacon Street, across Washington Park and into Georgetown.
The VI-Kings, feature the legendary Bob Berberich on drums, the original drummer for The Hangmen, Grin & The Rosslyn Mountain Boys. The VI-Kings will also be joined for this performance by the incomparable vocalist Annie Sidley of The Sidleys and percussionist/vocalist Andrew Ratliff, formerly of Apple Core.
Opening for The VI-Kings are The DCeivers Singer/guitarist/songwriter Sean Chyun is a DC musical comet who performed with The VI-Kings for several years. Along with the talented Ian Burke and Torro Gamble, The DCeivers bring a youthful, aggressive and altogether explosive approach to classic anthems from the ‘60’s/’70’s and ‘80’s. There’s a rumour all 11 performers will end up on stage together as the evening evolves.
