Rose Royce is the acclaimed band from Los Angeles that made a huge impact on the music charts in the late 1970s. Their debut album was the soundtrack to the hit movie "Car Wash" which won Grammy Award for Best Soundtrack Album and the title song was a #1 smash hit on both the Pop and R&B charts. Other classic hit songs from the album were "I Wanna Get Next To You" (#10 Pop and #3 R&B) and "I'm Going Down" (#10 R&B). Their next two albums featured more classic hit songs "Ooh Boy" (#3 R&B), "Do Your Dance" (#4 R&B), "Love Don't Live Here Anymore" (#5 R&B) and "Wishing On A Star", another one of their memorable songs.
The timeless music of Rose Royce was written and produced by the legendary Norman Whitfield who was previously one of the creators of the Motown Sound and later inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame as well as the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in the musical excellence category. The band's classic songs have been sampled by music royalty including Beyonce, Mary J Blige and Madonna. Today, Rose Royce's music is still heard on radio, television, film and all over social media.
