So you’ve drafted a short story, a piece of flash fiction, or another chapter of your future best-selling novel…what next? How do we revisit our fiction, assess it honestly and generously, and see it anew? Revision is the short answer, but for many of us the actual revision process is much more daunting. Even those of us who love revision can learn new tools that will make the process as exciting and rewarding as the process of creating a fictional world in the first draft.
In this workshop, we’ll focus on revising fiction you’ve already crafted. Our goal is to go much deeper than editing and proofreading. We want to access the heart of the story, rediscover what drew us to it, and make changes that surprise us and enrich what is already there. The workshop will involve fun exercises, revision strategies, and opportunities to provide feedback for one another. We’ll also take a close look at the revision stages of published works. This is a good workshop for anyone who wishes to see their work in a new way, and wants to build a revision toolkit. This workshop is open to all genres of fiction.
