Jan Knutson Solo Guitar Album Release - International Guitar Series
Jan Knutson is an acclaimed guitarist and composer based in Washington, DC. His colorful musical palette reflects his wide-ranging experience in jazz, bluegrass, classical, rock, and world-music genres, and has made him a sought after member of the region's musical community. He has been priveleged to perform with some of the world’s finest guitarists including Frank Vignola, Martin Taylor, and Julian Lage. He has released five albums, three of which are of his original music. His latest album, "High Road," will be released on CD this evening!
In addition to performing solo shows at major venues in the DC area including the Kennedy Center, Strathmore, and Blues Alley, he has been a featured artist at the Richmond Folk Festival, the True Blue Jazz Festival and the Marlow International Guitar Series. In 2018, at the age of 19, he won the guitarist/arranger position with the United States Army Orchestra and has written over 30 arrangements for the ensemble. In 2024 Jan became the guitarist for the US Army Blues Jazz Ensemble.
