Hubb's Groove

Drum Master Robert Hubbard & his Group pay Tribute to Vocal Legends Angela Bofill and Phyllis Hyman.

Featuring Special Guest Vocalist Arielle Green from Youngstown, Ohio!

Hubb's Groove is a mIx of Soul, Jazz, R&B and a splash of Gospel.  It's a smooth but yet high energy band that believes whats played from the heart, reaches the heart.

The band was founded In Arielle Green1996 by Robert Hubbard in Cleveland Ohio under the name "Moments Notice". In 2006 Robert changed the name to "Hubb'S Groove". The band has shared the stage with Kirk Whalum, Jonathan Butler, Earth Wind & Fire, Wayman Tisdale and Pieces of a Dream.

Hubb's Groove has performed with Angela Bofill, Marcus Johnson, Alex Bugnon, Mike Phillips and Sean Jones to name a few.  When the group is not on tour together, they are working with other artists such as Babyface, Toni Braxton, Gerald Albright and Pieces of a Dream.

Arielle T. Green is a native of Youngstown, OH and a 2016 graduate of Anderson University (Anderson, IN) with a Bachelor of Arts in Music. Arielle has been fond of the arts from a young age as a member of Archangel  Dance Theater (Youngstown, OH) and eventually joining her school band.

Angela PhylisAngela Bofill performed with Ricardo Marrero and Dance Theater of Harlem chorus before being introduced to Dave Grusin and Larry Rosen of the jazz label GRP Records by Dave Valentin, her friend and jazz flutist. Grusin and Rosen signed Bofill and produced her first album, Angie, in 1978. Angie was well received and included the chart single "This Time I'll Be Sweeter", and Bofill's sprawling jazz composition, "Under the Moon and Over the Sky".

Less than a year later, a second album, Angel of the Night was released and outperformed its predecessor. The album included the chart singles "What I Wouldn't Do (For the Love of You)" and the up tempo title track. The reception of these albums positioned Bofill as one of the first Latina singers to find success in the R&B and jazz markets.

Phyllis Hyman  was an American singer and actress. Hyman is best known for her music during the late 1970s through the early 1990s, some of her most notable songs were "You Know How to Love Me" (1979), "Living All Alone" (1986) and "Don't Wanna Change the World" (1991).

In 1975 when Norman Connors was laying tracks for You Are My Starship (1976) he had heard about Phyllis Hyman. One night he went to see Hyman perform and offered her a spot as the female vocalist on his album. Once the title song got airplay on jazz radio, You Are My Starship went gold, catapulting Hyman's career. R&B radio jumped on board and Connors and Hyman scored on the R&B charts with a remake of The Stylistics' "Betcha by Golly Wow!".
