5th Avenue – Meet the Band
A former student of legendary saxophonists Gerry Niewood and Frank Foster, Ken Cicerale has performed for many years as both leader and sideman with various jazz and pop ensembles in the greater New York area. He has also toured with several nationally known artists as well as composing and performing incidental music to the highly acclaimed Off-Broadway set of short plays entitled “Close Enough for Jazz” and more recently provided incidental music and sound design for the Possum Point Players production of “A Raisin In the Sun”. Recordings include "Musings", a duo album with guitarist Monroe Quinn and two solo albums, “Soliloquies” and “Abstractions”.
Jeff Cooper has been a professional bassist his entire adult life. From jazz to rock, classical to pop and musical theatre, Jeff has performed at the Kennedy Center, National and Ford theaters, Wolf Trap Center for the Performing Arts, and in Baltimore at the Hippodrome Theater. His variety band, Tuxedo Junction, performed extensively at Presidential Balls, corporate and private parties, weddings, and society galas throughout the Washington DC metropolitan area. In 2005, Jeff began his Broadway career as principal bassist for The Woman in White, LoveMusik, Ragtime and Evita. In 2016 Jeff expanded his musical talents with his jazz-influenced duo Notes on the Beach, playing at Rehoboth, Bethany, and Ocean City restaurants, clubs, and private events. A native of Washington, DC, Jeff is a graduate of the prestigious Peabody Conservatory of Music in Baltimore, MD.
Ken Schleifer is a lifelong drummer, percussionist and vocalist who has traveled all over the East Coast performing with various musical groups. Schleifer turned his passion for music into being an educator and music teacher, helping to gauge interest from students. Ken has a diverse background in music, performing classic rock, R&B, big band, blues, Latin and contemporary pop; but has now returned to his passion for jazz.
