"David Zheng is a jazz pianist and composer who is currently a graduate student in Jazz Piano Performance at the prestigious Manhattan School of Music on scholarship. He is now based in NYC after spending several years living in Philadelphia. He graduated from Princeton University in 2014 magna cum laude and was heavily involved in the Downbeat award winning jazz program there. He was also part of the esteemed Jazz Composers Collective, which toured Australia in 2012, and was also a member of the New Jersey Intercollegiate All State Jazz band. While in Philly, he played with many of the top musicians in the area, both as a bandleader and sideman, and he was/is a regular performer at the esteemed Chris' Jazz Cafe, sharing bills with famous acts such as John Pizzarelli and Chris Potter. Since moving to NYC, he has performed with his band at many of the premier music venues in the city including Rockwood Music Hall, Arlene's Grocery (where he hosts “The Hang”), The Red Room NYC, Williamsburg Music Center, Piano's NYC, The Bitter End, Shrine, Silvana, and the Delancey. His music draws heavily from contemporary jazz, hip-hop, R&B, electronic music, and neo-soul, and is thrilled to be making his DC debut at Twins Jazz."
