The Keigo Hirakawa Trio is a hard hitting, hard swinging, jazz piano trio that reach the highest level of improvisational artistry. Acclaimed jazz pianist Stephen Scott describes Hirakawa’s playing as "full of inventiveness and a sense of adventure, creativeness and voracious angularity, aggressiveness, and jaggedness, passion and swing." The Trio recently released a straight-ahead piano trio CD named "And Then There Were Three." It is a longstanding collaboration between Hirakawa (piano), Eddie Brookshire (bass) and Fenton Sparks (drums). The album enjoys airplay on over 100 jazz radio stations around the country.
Individually, Keigo Hirakawa has worked/toured with Donald Byrd, Joe Lovano, JD Allen, Duane Eubanks, Noah Preminger, Bob Moses, Allen Vizzutti, Greg Abate, and Richie Barshay. A veteran bassist Eddie Brookshire has performed/recorded with Elvin Jones, Rusty Bryant, Mulgrew Miller, Kenny Drew Jr., Johnny Lytle, and David "Fathead" Newman. Drummer Fenton Sparks appeared on Don Cheadle’s movie Miles Ahead and worked with Cyrus Chestnut, Delfeayo Marsalis, Bill Cunliffe, Sonny Stitt, and Roy Meriwether.
