Elise Wood, a Jazz flute player best known for her decades of international performances and recordings since1983 with the legendary pianist John Hicks has stepped to the forefront with the release of her recent CD Serenity, HiWood, 2018. She was first introduced with him on a debut recording from Evidence Records with Clifford Jordan, Walter Booker and Jimmy Cobb and continued to work steadily both as a collaborative leader and sideman. Elise Wood, Jazz Flautist returns in a Trio performance at An Die Musik, Baltimore on Thursday March 7, 2019. She is presenting In the upcoming concert her Jazz /Brazilian Ensemble featuring a collaboration of stellar bandleaders of their own rite. She will be joined by NY guitarist Larry Corban, soon to be releasing his forth cd “Corban Nation” and DeAngelica guitar endorsee who most often has played with Wood in NYC in duet settings. Included in her ensemble is world recognized bassist Harvie S, often associated with his decades of work with legendary vocalist Shiela Jordan, along with own his countless credits. Rounding out the ensemble will be guest vocalist Yashmin Abler, founder of Bossa Nova Music Productions with her late husband and guitarist, Paul Able). The music of the this evening on will be selected compositions from Wood’s Serenity cd presenting such composers as Joe Henderson, Wayne Shorter, Miles Davis, Carlos Jobim, and others.
