Chris Stiles arrived on the Washington, DC music scene in early 2018. He has performed with many luminaries, including The Temptations. While living in Asia for 10 years, he co-founded and wrote music for the Dragon Jazz Quartet, touring regularly across China,Taiwan, Hong Kong, and Singapore with some of Asia’s biggest stars including Stefanie Sun, and Karen Mok. Chris studied music at Arizona State University with Chuck Marohnic, as well as award-winning Chicago pianist Michael Kocour.
Grant Izmirlian is a saxophonist and composer based in the DC metro area. Originally from St. Louis Missouri, Grant studied saxophone and jazz performance with Paul DeMarinis of Webster University. Since moving to the DC metro in 1999, he’s played in local clubs and private gigs with a variety of local luminaries including Butch Warren and Webster Young and international artists such as Ted Curson
Arsen Sumbatyan is a trumpet/flugel hornist and pianist based in the DC metro area. He is the full-time ballet accompanist at the Maryland Youth Ballet, and has also worked with a number of other national and regional ballet companies. A native of Moscow, he had classical training on trumpet and piano earning a Master’s degree in performing arts from Moscow Conservatory. Arsen has gigged with the Tom Cunnigham Jazz Orchestra, Imperial Palms Jazz Orchestra, Regent Seven Seas Cruises Jazz Orchestra, the Washington Symphony Orchestra.
Alec Petkoff received his BA and MA from the Aaron Copland School of Music from Queens College CUNY. He studied bass with Homer Mensch. He studied jazz with Sir Roland Hanna, Jimmy Heath, Michael Mossman and Todd Williams while attending Queens. Classmates at QC include such luminaries as Jeb Patton, Ted Baker, Luis Perdomo, Todd Bashore, Nick Russo, Greg German and Yoshio Aomori. Alec also enjoys singing with the National Philharmonic Chorale.
Chris Booher arrived in the DC metro area in 2008. He received his BA in Music Performance with John Floyd and Chip McNeill, playing drum-set in the Virginia Tech Jazz Ensemble, Jazz Labs and New Virginians Jazz Vocal Ensemble. Chris pursued jazz studies at the University of North Texas, @Denton, TX, training with Ed Soph and performing with the 6 o’clock Jazz Band. Later at Texas State, he played with the Texas State Jazz Band, local jazz combos, studying with Butch Miles. In 2007 Chris performed at the Montreux Jazz Festival with the Texas State Jazz Ensemble.
