Join the Potomac River Jazz Club for an afternoon concert of dixieland jazz with Tex Wyndham's Red Lion Jazz Band from Delaware. All are welcome!
The Red Lion Jazz Band has been the Delaware Valley's leading revivalist Dixieland combo for 50 years. Leader Tex Wyndham has a national reputation both as a performer and an authority on early jazz. He can be heard on some 40 recordings including performances with Wild Bill Davison, Maxine Sullivan, and Banu Gibson. He is the author of Texas Shout: How Dixieland Jazz Works and in 1998 was nominated for a National Heritage Fellowship in Folk and Traditional Arts. The Red Lions play a cross-section of America's popular music from about 1895 to 1930 including blues, marches, cakewalks, and rags.
