Born in Houston, Texas, Trina was raised in a home filled with music. Her mother was a soul singer, her father a jazz musician — and together, they inspired her deep connection to sound and storytelling. Influenced by legends like Aretha Franklin and The Emotions, she began singing at a young age, refining the vocal control and emotional expression that would later define her artistry.
That early passion led her to an extraordinary career. As a vocalist and songwriter, Trina has collaborated with some of the biggest names in R&B, pop, and gospel — including Patti Austin, Jennifer Holliday, Raphael Saadiq, BeBe & CeCe Winans, Bobby Brown, Mariah Carey, Beyoncé, Jennifer Lopez, Rahsaan Patterson, Joi, and Kenny Lattimore. She also recorded vocals on tracks for Usher, Jay-Z, Jeezy, and contributed to Toni Braxton’s classic “Love Should’ve Brought You Home” from the Boomerang soundtrack.
Her songwriting talent shines just as brightly — she co-wrote “Here We Go Again” for Aretha Franklin’s 1998 album A Rose Is Still a Rose, fulfilling a dream to work with one of her greatest influences.
As a solo artist, Broussard’s projects — including her debut single “Love You So Much” (So So Def Records), her Inside My Love album, and her Motown release Same Girl — established her as a key voice in the neo-soul era. Her music blends heartfelt emotion, timeless groove, and lyrical honesty in a way that feels both classic and contemporary.
After a reflective pause from the industry, Trina returned refreshed and re-inspired, releasing “Adieu” and “Where I’m Supposed to Be” through her partnership with R&B Moguls. Both songs reaffirm her gift for crafting deeply personal, soul-stirring music that connects across generations.
