Timmy Shepherd is a vocalist who plays guitar and piano , composes, writes lyrics and arranges much of the material he performs.Out of Nat Cole's ,Johnny Mathis and Tony Bennett school , you can hear the influence of Jon Hendricks, Al Jarreau and Eddie Jefferson in his approach to singing. R&B,Blues,Dixie,Swing,Latin and Afro Cuban are in his library of music. From the small group, larger ensembles to the big bands are settings he worked throughout the years. In  1981 he was hired by drummer Harold White after hearing Timmy at a jam session in Baltimore. That same year Henry Baker gave Timmy  some nights  at his Jazz Closet. Trombonist Curtis let the young singer sit in and the end of the  night invited to work the rest of the weekend with his group. Pianist Albert Dailey came through the next weekend and advised him to relocate somewhere in New York.He moved to the Bronx 1982 sharing an apt with Harold White. Harold gave him the vocal spot with his quintet at the Star Bar Café on 23rd street in Chelsea Manhattan.Three months later he became artist in resident. He toured with Curtis Fuller for almost a year up and down the East coast. Junior Cook began working with Harold and asked the singer to sit with the Bill Hardman/Junior Cook Quintet on Xmas Eve. Sitting in a few more time he joined the group for a concert in Philly his stay last  four years. The group toured up and down the East Coast playing the Jazz festivals  and Clubs. They played Barry Harris' Jazz Cultural Theater meeting the Baroness Ponnonica. It was there Timmy gained a partner  to share the vocals, the incredible Suzanne Klewin. 1986 five  members of the group were scheduled to record the music of Rahsaan Roland Kirk arranged by Steve Turre. it was a Grammy nominated recording session. So Timmy and Suzanne get credit for being on those sessions. 1987 Dave Hubbard added the two singers to his Labor of love ensemble. Albert Dailey joined Harold's group at the Star and used  Timmy on many of his Trio and Quartet gigs. Moving back to Baltimore he found work with trumpeter Mack Rucks in Quartet and the Eubie Blake Big Band. Baltimore drummer/personality hired him on Friday and Saturday at Buddies Pub.
