Lucy Wijnands: The Rodgers and Hart Songbook- Winner of the 2021 Ella Fitzgerald Vocal Competition and a prominent rising star of New York City's jazz scene, Lucy Wijnands brings her unique voice and gift of storytelling to Blues Alley through the timeless songbook of Rodgers and Hart. This intimate evening will feature two of NYC's finest: Greg Ruggiero on guitar and Neal Miner on bass; both who are acclaimed bandleaders and recording artists in their own right and are distinguished as the perfect vocalist's sidemen, having worked with many of today's luminaries. From Kansas City, Missouri, 28 year old vocalist Lucy Wijnands has toured all over the world, completed a 16-week residency singing with the world-famous Birdland Big Band, became a regular at Manhattan’s Mezzrow and other notable NYC jazz clubs, won the prestigious Ella Fitzgerald competition and earned a degree in jazz studies from SUNY Purchase’s Conservatory of Music, graduating as an Ella Fitzgerald Scholar and President’s Award recipient. Lucy has shared the stage with Jon Faddis, Ron Carter, Joe Magnarelli, Peter Washington, Johnny O'Neal, Pasquale Grasso, Emmett Cohen, Omer Avital, Paquito D'Rivera, Houston Person, and more.
