Alison Shearer is a saxophonist with tremendous style, lyricism, and intuition whose talents have brought her around the world. Alison has performed at The Blue Note NYC, Lincoln Center, Dizzy's Club Coca Cola, Merkin Concert Hall, The Kennedy Center, Joe's Pub, Brooklyn Bowl, National Sawdust, Google Zeitgeist Conferences, Nectar’s in Burlington and Seattle, Rockwood Music Hall, and Summerstage among many other venues.
College at Manhattan School of Music introduced Alison to many of the musicians she works with today. One of the notable groups to emerge from MSM during Alison's time was PitchBlak Brass Band, a ten piece hip-hop brass band that received critical acclaim from DownBeat Magazine, NPR, Live for Live Music, Brooklyn Vegan, The Wall Street Journal, and The Source Magazine. Alison was a founding member of PitchBlak and toured extensively across the US with the group from 2010 - 2016. During its tenure, PitchBlak collaborated with Pharoahe Monch, Rabbi Darkside, ILLspokinn, Isaac Teel, Denitia and Sene, JSWISS, Jonathan Hoard, and the Snarky Puppy horn section.
Alison's formed her own fusion quartet in 2015, united by a love of genre bending, melodic music. Alison has toured the East Coast with this ensemble, appearing at Asheville Music Hall, Dante's, The Wind Up Space, and hometown venues Joe's Pub, Come On Everybody, and Rockwood Music Hall. From 2017 - 2018, Alison ran a weekly series called Soul Sessions at The Williamsburg Hotel, which featured different guest vocalists and rappers every week alongside her quartet.
Alison lives in Brooklyn, NY with her husband and cat Bambi.
