In commemoration of the seminal events of 1968, the In Series celebrates the spirit and significance of Washington DC’s Black Broadway by reviving the not-to-be-missed acclaimed 2009 production. “Take the A-Train” from a thriving music scene on U St. to the roaring nightlife of Harlem’s Cotton Club - from gospel to jazz this joint will definitely be jumpin’! Playwright Sybil Williams weaves a story of courageous people in turbulent times, told with the defining music of an age: songs by Duke Ellington, Cab Calloway, Fats Waller, and others. Local historian Timothy Wright leads audiences through the story of the music, mural art, and life along U Street in this unique walking exploration of the hidden sights and sounds of the community. The tour begins at Source Theatre (hand warmers and hot drinks provided) two hours before each show, and ends with a discounted meal at famed local restaurant Ben’s Chili Bowl. Tickets: $15.
