Nano Stern is a multi-instrumentalist, composer, and songwriter with strong roots in the traditional songbook of South America. His music approaches folk, rock, jazz, trova, and experimental sounds from a contemporary perspective.
His artistic language looks within subtle and simple worlds in search of a balance between poetry and music. In this intense and saturated world, he creates a refuge of words and sounds that reflect the concerns and urgencies of our time.
Nano Stern began his musical life at three years old while picking up the violin. From then on he has constantly been on a lifelong exploration of the many paths of sound, picking up many instruments and becoming fluid across many musical languages. He now stands out as one of the most influential Chilean musicians and the potency of his performances, albums, instrumental technique, poetic voice, and social activism are widely acknowledged. He has performed at countless venues and festivals on an international scale, often collaborating with legendary colleagues, and his work has been recognized with some of the most important awards in Chilean music.
“Nano Stern is the best Chilean singer-songwriter of his generation, with his lyrics, melodies, message, humor, and heart.” (Joan Baez, USA)
"When you see him live, it's very easy to understand the reason for his dazzling career." (Jorge Drexler, Uruguay)
“The appearance of Mr. Stern (...) generated the kind of lighting you might have experienced at a joyful ’60s hootenanny when everything seemed possible and hope was in the air.” (The New York Times, EEUU)
“Nano Stern is a live phenomenon” (Andrew Cronshow, England)
