Celebrating over 40 years as a performer, Christian returns to Blues Alley in July for his Birthday Bash and CD Release Party. At press time, the lineup consists of: Eddie Baccus Jr., Dre King, Greg Boyer, Mike Gamble, Tim Steele, Curtis McCain, Elliot Levine and special guest vocalist Debora Galan.
Christian made his debut on the national stage in 2006 performing at the Capital Jazz Festival. His band Groove Skool was chosen from among 50 entries to compete against new, up and coming artists such as Ken Ford, Matt Marshak and Ragan Whiteside. Groove Skool released Christian's debut album, "Limited Edition", which yielded a top 10 most requested song, "Latin Jive".
Groove Skool went on to sell out at Blues Alley and played large outdoor events such as the Lake Arbor Jazz Festival in Mitchellville, Maryland and the 2nd Street Festival in Richmond, Virginia, both with crowds of over six thousand. But his biggest crowd experienced to date was opening for Roberta Flack in 2000 on Browns Island, breaking attendance records with a whopping thirty thousand plus music fans in attendance.
Christian has released three singles independently: "Good Old Days" in 2015 and "Latin Jive Redux" in 2017. "Latin Jive Redux", a remix of the Groove Skool song went to #55 on Billboard and #1 in the UK. It has remained in the top 10 for over a year on both the Moth FM/UK and 96.8 the Oasis in the USA. His 2018 release "Spirit" has climbed up to #33 with a bullet on the Smooth Jazz media base chart and has been in rotation on many terrestrial adult contemporary radio stations in the US.
