Emma Hedrick is an award-winning vocalist, composer, and bandleader from Indiana. Her debut album of original music, Newcomer, releases on August 1st. She is honored to kick off the album release tour at the Jazz Kitchen, a venue that has been a source of support and community from the start of her career. Written during her formative time as a student in the Netherlands and Miami, this soulful collection of contemporary jazz is a musical scrapbook that blends modernity and tradition. The songs weave through a wide variety of genres from swing to samba to singer-songwriter with engaging lyrics as the throughline, contributing to a can't-miss evening of creativity and authenticity.
Known for both voice and composition, she was a Semi-Finalist in the International Songwriting Competition and was recently awarded a 2025 New Works Commission. She has performed internationally, including performances at the Indy Jazz Fest, Rochester Jazz Festival, Telluride Jazz Festival, as a part of the JAS Academy directed by Christian McBride, and in the Jong Metropole tour of the Netherlands and Germany. She received 7 Downbeat Student Music Awards for Jazz Voice throughout high school and college, and was a National YoungArts Winner in Voice.
She is joined by her band of up-and-coming talent from across the U.S. They continue their tour with shows across the Midwest, with highlights at Merriman's Playhouse, the Toledo Mindfulness Institute, and the Bop Stop. This project is funded in part by the Pathways To Jazz grant, a donor advised fund of the Boulder County Arts Alliance, and Youngarts.
