Carl Filipiak’s latest project in 2026 brings together acclaimed saxophonist Paul Hannah with dynamic new members Tyler Bartram on bass and Mark St. Pierre on drums. The group will play music by Bird, Trane, and Miles, as well as original jazz-inspired compositions — marking a fresh direction from Filipiak’s earlier bands. With a monthly residency and recording sessions underway, the group is gearing up to release an album later this year. Their first appearance at the renowned Keystone Korner Baltimore is Sunday, November 29th and features the brilliant Lafayette Gilchrist on piano, as a special guest.
Carl Filipiak has earned critical acclaim as one of today’s most dynamic jazz guitarists. Jazziz Magazine has included him among a renowned list of guitar players in their nominations for “New Fusion Blood,” and JazzTimes calls him “a dazzlingly versatile guitarist.” Many of his recordings and performances have paired him with some of the industry’s finest musicians including Dennis Chambers, Victor Wooten, and Grammy nominee Bob Berg.
