ECUADORIAN AMBASSADOR'S RESIDENCE: Since his recent triumph as the First Prize and the Jan Gorbaty Prize Winner for the best performance of the music of Chopin at the 59th Kosciuszko Foundation Chopin Piano Competition in New York City, 22-year-old Ecuadorian/Spanish pianist Jonathan Floril has been highly praised for his exceptionally poetic performances of the music of Fryderyk Chopin, in addition to having at his command a vast repertoire that spans more than four centuries of composition. Mr. Floril has appeared in hundreds of recitals throughout the continents of Europe and America, including Carnegie Hall’s Weill Recital Hall, University of Houston’s Moores Opera House, Merkin Concert Hall, Kaufmann Concert Hall (92Y) and Steinway Hall. Critics described him as “more than a prodigy, not only because of what he performs, but also how he performs…his extraordinary musical gifts are united by his professional honesty and authentic artistic dimension.” (Levante).
