Michael Henderson is an exceptional talent who started his extraordinary musical career as a teenage prodigy playing bass for legends Stevie Wonder and Aretha Franklin before joining the late great Miles Davis for seven years. He reached the zenith of success in a multitude of genres including Jazz, R&B, Soul, Funk and Fusion. His talent continues to be recognized with his fourth Grammy nomination for his latest bass work on the album "Miles From India." And a new generation has discovered the music of Michael Henderson through sampling and covers by contemporary hip-hop and R&B artists.
In the mid 1970s, Michael Henderson expanded his talents into singing and songwriting by teaming with drummer and producer Norman Connors. His first top ten R&B hit was "Valentine Love", a duet with Jean Carn produced by Connors, followed by the smash hit "You Are My Starship" that reached #4 R&B and #27 Pop. His first solo hit was "Be My Girl" and his biggest hits were "Take Me I'm Yours" which reached #3 R&B and the funk jam "Wide Receiver" which reached #4 R&B. He also had another top ten R&B hit duet "Can't We Fall In Love Again" with the late great Phyllis Hyman, and another popular duet "At The Concert" with the great Roberta Flack. Michael Henderson and his talented band will perform all of these songs and more in his long awaited return to the DC area where he has always been popular!
Began music career working with Michael Henderson and Norman Connors as well as touring with Luther Vandross. After signing her own record deal in 1983, Cherrelle teamed with producers Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis on her debut album "Fragile" and her first top ten R&B hit "I Didn't Mean to Turn You On", which was covered a year later by singer Robert Palmer and became a big pop hit. Cherelle then had two smash hit duets with Alexander O'Neal, first "Saturday Love" which had a dance remix that was a club favorite, followed by the smooth "Never Knew Love Like This", and both songs reached #2 R&B and top 30 Pop. Cherelle reached the top of the R&B chart with her #1 smash hit "Everything I Miss At Home", followed by "Affair" which reached #4 R&B. Cherelle will perform all of these songs and more featuring her sultry vocals and sexy stage presence!
